In May the Friends sponsore a fishing tournament for children from ages 5 to 15 at the Cape Henlopen State Park Fishing Pier. Participants do not need a fishing license for the event.

The first 50 participants receive a free t-shirt and there are many prizes, including bicycles, fishing equipment, and a fishing trip for two (parent and child).

Funds obtained from the Youth Fishing Tournament currently go to the maintenance and expansion of the new Park Playground.
