Trail Days

Working to make the Park its best...

Parks, especially one as large and diverse as Cape Henlopen State Park, require constant attention and effort. We assess, plan and organize regular events to help keep the Park clean, beautiful and in good condition.

Monthly Trail Days

One of the most  important activities we undertake is aimed at keeping the Park’s trails clear and safe. On "Trail Days", Friends and other volunteers engage in regular trail cleaning, clearing maintenance and other projects..

Trail Days are held on the 2nd.  Saturday of every  month, weather permitting.    Next Events: March13th. & April 10th..  Meet at the Nature Center parking lot at 9:00am Masks and social distancing rules are required. Thank you.

National Trails Day will return June5th 2021

National Trails Day is an annual event  held  on the first Saturday in June. It is part of a Nationwide event designed to broaden participation in such activities. Often outside groups such as scout troops or clubs arrange to participate, and we have additional projects to accommodate the efforts of the volunteers.  To participate, simply show up at the Hawkwatch Picnic Pavilion in the Park at 9 am on the first Saturday in June. There, volunteers are split into  groups to work on the various projects.

At noon on National Trail Day, the Village Improvement Association
generously  provides lunch for everyone  at the Picnic Pavilion.
Volunteers  also receive a free commemorative Tshirt
